1. MOTHER MARIE-SALOME

Marie-Renée Roudaut
Born 3 March 1847 at Guisseny, Diocese of Quimper
Deceased at St-Charles 18 October 1930

SUPERIOR GENERAL
From 14 September 1882 to 18 June 1925
Entering fully in the apostolic vision of the Founder, she defended
the very existence of the Congregation, humbly and firmly,
and made it an effective instrument for the Evangelisation of Africa.

Deceased at St-Charles: 7 June 1936

SUPERIOR GENERAL
From 18 June 1925 to 7 June 1936
Period of great expansion of the Congregation: formation of Superiors
and Sisters on the spiritual and apostolic level (languages, workshops).

Visited the Missions of Equatorial Africa.
Prepared the erection of the Belgian and
German Provinces in 1937. Period of World War II.
Development of the Missions in North Africa.
Houses for study of languages and missiology.
Decentralization pushed forward.

SUPERIOR GENERAL
From 17 May 1947 to 16 May 1959
Continued the erection of Provinces
Worked to obtain financial autonomy of the Missions
from the White Fathers.
Visited Sub-Saharan Africa (East and South).
