Praying with the women, on the Day of the Resurrection.

Marie Madeleine à la RésurrectionWord of God :

The first day of the week early in the morning the women went to the tomb taking the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They entered but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. They did not know what to think, when two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. Filled with fear, they bowed their faces to the ground.
They said to them:
“Why do you seek the living among the dead?” Luke 24: 1-5

ouvrir sa porteTexts of Mother Marie Salome and Cardinal Lavigerie:

“What is essential is, through the variety of occupations to remain in the presence of God, to carry out all your actions with a spirit of faith.” Mother Marie Salomé

“Women Apostles! That is what you want to give to the Church—following the example of the holy women who followed Our Lord during His mortal life, and after his death, preached his name by their faith, by their love, by their example.” Cardinal Charles Lavigerie.

Personal prayer:

Like the women on their way to the tomb,
perhaps I too begin my day thinking about “all there is to do,” whether sad or happy.

How did I get up this morning?
About what, or about whom was I thinking?

“The women found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
They entered but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.”

I imagine the distress of these women,
I look at their faces,
I listen to the silence surrounding their astonishment.

And I hear with them, this incredible word:
“Why do you seek the living among the dead?”
I slowly repeat that word several times.

What in the world and in my life seems to be “dead”?
Which stone needs to be rolled away
so that I can recognize the Living One
present and active in my life and in the world;
so that once again the sun enlightens all my life?

I finish my prayer-time by talking about all this with Jesus, the Risen One.

I fast with my mouth!
I fast with my ears!
Pentecost: Does my life help others to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ?
