On April 27, 2019, Sister Georgette Ouedraogo from Burkina Faso made her final commitment in the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa and was appointed to Lilongwe, Malawi.
“The Lord has done marvels for me, Holy is his name.”
Let us all give thanks to the Lord for the gift of his grace, the grace of his presence and his concern for our Congregation, for each member and especially for me today.
I thank the whole family of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa for welcoming me so that together we can be bearers of hope. What joy and what grace! May the name of the Lord be praised!
Celebration! an opportunity to strengthen ties
It was a great joy that our sisters from Mali, Bobo and Ghana joined the cathedral community to accompany me on April 27 in my final commitment at my parish in Donsin, Burkina Faso. Before that, on Thursday, April 25, some of our sisters came to stay at the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (SIC) of Ouagadougou, in our parish. The sisters said: “Please feel at home; we are honored to welcome our mothers.” Another sister and I stayed in my family–a gesture that has marked people and especially my family.
The celebration of the Eucharist was presided over by His Excellency the Most Reverend Léopold Ouedraogo. A large crowd of friends, acquaintances and relationships were waiting. We gave thanks to the Lord. It was an opportunity to make new friends, especially with the community of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Ouagadougou who welcomed us and helped us prepare the celebration. We also enlarged our circle by getting to know the priests of the parish as well as the young people with whom we worked.
The joy of celebrating in the village of my birth
The Thanksgiving Mass of April 28 in my native village was presided over by Father Joseph Clochard, Missionary of Africa, assisted by three of his confreres and two of my uncles. It was beautiful—two days of joyful celebration in peace. The Lord was with us; may his name be blessed.
Thank you very much my sisters. Everything went well thanks to your prayers. Let’s continue to pray so that I can let the Lord support my “yes”.
