Tunisia: from different cultures and religions, we came together to serve others!
From July 14 to 28, 2019, young Tunisians from the city of Kef welcomed young people from Germany, France and a Burkinabe student in Tunisia with sister Valérie Kaboré (from Algiers) and sister Cécile Dilé (from Marsa) . The goal of this vacation time was to allow all these students from different cultures and religions to serve others together. This project is a result of the presence of the White Sisters at Kef, for nearly 40 years.

Meeting of the “Our Lady of Africa Family”
On Saturday, May 11th, 2019, when the Plenary Assembly of the UISG (International Union of Superiors General) was finished, the community of Rome welcomed twenty Superiors General of the ‘Family of Our Lady of Africa’. They spent the day working with the General Council, focusing on various points of common interest. Looking back on the UISG meeting, which had as its theme ‘Sowers of Prophetic Hope’, many highlighted the awareness they had gained and the concrete commitments already made. Through these, we were equipped to raise awareness on how we can either take care of the environment or destroy it. Some examples of actions were cited: planting trees and reforestation; educate children in our schools to respect and care for creation; make people aware of how to improve their environment, especially regarding forests; support the projects of those who are working for the same cause and collaborate with them. Canada has responded with conviction to the “Fridays for the Future” movement. Every Friday in different parts of the world people are joining the global movement to walk for the climate.
Muslims speak of the beatification of the Martyrs of Algeria
Pope Francis made a historic visit to the United Arab Emirates by transmitting a message of peace and promoting interfaith dialogue between Christians and Muslims. In December 2018, in Algeria–a Muslim country, we celebrated the beatification of the 19 martyrs of Algeria. Many Muslims participated. The event itself has become a beautiful message of peace, fraternity and interreligious dialogue.
