On 8 April 2018 at Kabwata parish, Lusaka, 9 Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa from different African countries
Africa joined family members, Missionaries of Africa and diocesan priests in the joyful procession with songs and dances, to accompany our sisters Linah Siabana and Vickness Muleya.
During the celebration of the Eucharist, presided over by Archbishop Mpundu of Lusaka, the two sisters pronounced their perpetual vows.
In his homily, the bishop expressed his deep concern for missionary vocations. He stressed the need for missionaries and encouraged the whole community to continue to promote and support missionary vocations.
During the celebration, traditional dances were performed to accompany our sisters to the altar. As a sign of the sisters’ maturity and their willingness to carry out their mission in trust in God, the women smeared flour on their foreheads.
Sr Florence Mwamba, canonical authority of our entity, representing our Superior General, prepared the celebration of this perpetual commitment of our sisters and received their vows. During the ceremony, the sisters received their rings, a sign of their total gift to the Lord and their promise to continue Jesus’ mission here on earth.
This inspiring celebration was followed by a festive dinner, highlighted by the cutting of a magnificent cake by the two sisters and the guest of honour, Bishop Mpundu. Numerous gifts were presented to our sisters by family members, friends, parishioners and supporters. Songs and prayers of thanksgiving brought this unforgettable day to a close.
May the Lord continue to be their companion and guide them on their future missionary journey!
