“The harvest is rich but the laborers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers to do his harvesting” (Luke 10: 2).
Aware of this call from Jesus, we ask the Master of the harvest to send us workers for His mission in the Church and especially in our Congregation. For that to happen, we believe that MVA is part of our mission and we are only intermediaries. Therefore, we visit churches, schools and families to make our Congregation and it’s mission known and to share our charism through our presence and our words. We also collaborate with our sisters in Goma to follow up and do MVA in Aru, for Adjumani is nearer to that part of D R Congo than Goma.
We network with the Missionaries of Africa, the friends and relatives of the Missionaries of Africa (FROMA) of West-Nile and other people in order to share our presence in this area north of Uganda.
Many young people at different levels in their studies got interested in our charism and way of life. Thus, we organized a mini-camp this year for our aspirants on the theme of “Africa Calls you” in which some of our aspirants participated. All could not participate because of the different school programs. Hence, the meeting took place from 31st August to 2nd September. What a surprise on the 31st of August to welcome a primary three child who insisted on participating in the meeting.
Due to the fact that we do not have our own house yet and because of the distance for some of the aspirants, we had the meeting in a Multipurpose Centre, a diocesan property. Those coming from far arrived on the 31st and left on the 2nd of September, and those from within arrived on the 1st of September in the morning, the same day we had the meeting. Here is the program of the day: after the introductory prayer and the individual self-introductions, the theme was developed in sub-topics such as “the types of vocation”, because many do not yet know much about religious life; a motivational talk and the presentation of who we are: our history, Charism, Mission, where our mission is lived in the world today and the stages of formation.
They got the chance to visit our community where our small multipurpose sitting room was a bit too small to accommodate all of us.
Because it was a short visit, while some could sit, the majority were able to remain standing. It was an intensive day and we were able to present the mentioned topics briefly, but sufficiently for one day. The participants remained dynamic and enthusiastic up to the end. We ended the day with a Eucharistic celebration of thanksgiving and those from within Adjumani departed for their respective homes.
May Jesus listen to our voices asking for vocations. Amen.
