“We feel it is urgent to incorporate in all our apostolic commitments, the dimension of justice, peace and integrity of creation.
We want to express our solidarity with all humanity and participate in this reconciled CREATION event which Christ is moving towards its fulfillment.” 2011 General Chapter of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa
Pope Francis in his encyclical “Laudato si” after comparing the earth as our home according to the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi, he calls it Sister Earth. He writes: “This sister Earth is crying because of the damage we cause her by the irresponsible use and abuse of the goods that God has deposited in her.”This encyclical is the basis of our prayer.
Let us listen to the old song of the scouts:
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
O Lord, my soul adores you
by the light of the dawn
Blessed be God, the Creator of the shining sun…
Pray with “the errors of the world”:
O Lord heal us, O Lord save us, give us peace.
Patriarch Bartholomew said: “Humans degrade the integrity of the earth, causing climate change, by stripping the earth of its natural forests or destroying its wetlands … these are sins; a crime against nature is a crime against ourselves and a sin against God.”
Pope Francis tells us:I address a pressing invitation for a new dialogue on how we build the future of the planet. We need a conversion which unites us all, because this challenge concerns and touches everyone.”
Climate is a common good of everyone and for everyone. Humanity must become aware of the need to make changes–of life, of production and consumption, to combat global warming or at least the human causes that provoke it.
Word of God: From the beginning of the Bible, we see God, proud of his creation, beautiful and fruitful: Gen 1.1 to 2.4 “In the beginning God created heaven and earth … and God saw that it was good … “
