Sr. Bernadette Djekoye for the community
On December 26, our sisters from the communities of Oran and Algiers courageously set off for Ghardaïa where we were impatiently waiting for them.
We welcomed them with great joy.
It had been so long since almost all of us had had the opportunity to meet. On the morning of the 27th, we celebrated the Eucharist in our community, presided over by one of our brothers of the Missionaries of Africa. After a good breakfast, we set off for Sebseb where we were able to live our time of sharing about our mission as MSOLA in the M’Zab Valley, in Ghardaïa. Along the way, we discovered this environment until our destination. We had a very warm welcome in this desert place, with beautiful tents. We were even able to have a room to ourselves all day.
It was at this time that we were able, as a community of Ghardaïa, to present our activities in connection with the mission entrusted to us. A small PowerPoint illustrated, through a few photos, our community project, our apostolic choices, etc.
Thus, we tried to help our sisters see the beauty of the mission entrusted to us in this desert.
While the presentation was being shown, our sisters were able to ask questions, say something about what they understood. At the end of the PowerPoint, each one spoke to say how she felt and express what it brought her as MSOLA.
We felt encouraged and supported by each other in our missionary experience. It was with joy that we were able to take a tour in the desert, some on foot and others on camelback.
On the morning of the 28th, we had the joy of celebrating Mass in the parish, animated by our sisters from the community of Hydra.
Later in the day, we were in communion with our brothers, the Missionnaries of Africa, gathered in Tizi Ouzou to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the blessed Charles, Jean, Christian and Alain martyrs of Algeria. We had mass at the cathedral of Ghardaïa, and we continued with a time of fraternal sharing and guided tour in their house and at the Bishop’s house. It was followed by the welcome and breakfast at their home.
It was a good time of meeting and sharing.
We continued later with the visit of some places so that our sisters could see the city of Ghardaïa and its history. We took the opportunity to say thank you and wish a good and fruitful mission to our sister Danuta who is preparing to leave Algeria for another mission.
These were two wonderful days lived between sisters, moments that strengthened our sisterly communion. Let us continue to give thanks to God while entrusting him with this new year. May the Lord grant us to welcome him with confidence wherever He sends us as pilgrims of Hope. Thank you to each of our sisters.
Happy and fruitful new year to all of us!!!
