“The missionary must be a person of fire, called by vocation to continue the work of Our Lord.
The Divine Master has said, “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and what would I but that it be already blazing!” To follow Christ is to walk in the footsteps of the One who has founded everything on love, is to be dynamized by his passion for the Father and for his Mission.” Cardinal Lavigerie.
A famous treasured word of the Cardinal: « I have made myself all to all, because I have said to the God of all, ‘I am all yours’ », is it not the expression of what Jesus, the first, lived out? He, first, made himself all to all, because he was all to his Father. The passion of the Father for humanity – for the poor in particular – became his.
It mobilized all his energies, directed his choices and led his ways. For it, he gave all, unto his own life. It is that passion which he desires to share with us, it is that fire he wishes to see blazing in the hearts of his disciples.
